For the past two weeks I have been having a constant dry mouth/throat. It goes away when I drink a couple glasses of water then comes back. I just started a 80% raw diet last week..can this have anything to do with it? I eat lots of raw fruits and veggies, legumes and nuts. I don’t eat any processed food and go through 2-3 gallons of water trying to get the dryness to go away but it doesn’t Sometimes it even makes my mouth more dry. Im not diabetic..I was just recently checked

I have a very serious diet soda addiction.

It is to the point where I keep a 2 liter bottle on the night stand at night. I will seek out diet soda even when I’m not thirsty. My boyfriend knows that the way to win my affection is a bottle of diet coke on Valentines.

I grew up in an unhealthy diabetic household. All I drank growing up was diet coke, and I feel like I am now, at the age of twenty, hard-wired for drinking the stuff.

I don’t even enjoy the taste to be perfectly honest. I don’t understand why I continue to consume it in such great quantities.

I have tried countless times to quit, but every time I feel like I go through withdraws, to the point that I am shaking, with throbbing headaches, and every other thought revolves around getting a diet coke.

I dunno, I feel like something is wrong with me. How to can quit once and for all? Where do I get the willpower?
So update:

I poured all the diet down the drain. I have a stock pile of tea ready to go and I’

I got tested during a physical last month. I have normal blood sugar levels, according to the doctor, and am nowhere near being diabetic yet (as my diabetic-for-20+-years-father assured me).

The thing is, I realize that even though I’m doing everything I can to avoid getting the dreaded disease (I’m not obese, monitor my diet and get regular excersize), diabetes still very much runs in my family. Right off the bat I can name about seven (immediate and distant) relatives who have it.

If there is much of a chance I could still get it, I’d like to hold it off as long as I can (having a chronic health problem is no good when you’re in college, and I do intend to enlist in the military after I graduate, but that’s beyond the point).

How much of a risk do I still have?
I’m not diabetic now and have no symptoms, also, I’m not going to be in the military for life, but for 8 years.
