My boyfriend (a type 2 diabetic), friends, and the campus nurse are convinced I may be diabetic, and so to humor them, I started watching what I ate and drank. I haven’t been formally tested, But I do have a dr. appt. next Friday to check. I’ve started drinking alot of diet coke, and I was wondering, other than the aspartame, is there anything I should be worried about? I know the aspartame is bad for you, but what exactly can it do? Thanks in advance!

(I also posted this in Diet & Fitness, but would appreciate advice from other diabetics too)

I recently started reducing my carbs to help me lose a few pounds and better control my blood glucose; I’m a Type 1 diabetic. I’m not doing extreme Atkins, just trying to stay between 100-130 per day. But I’ve been so sleepy and lethargic since I’ve started it. I feel like I constantly need a nap! Is this normal? Is it something I’ll get used to, or is there a solution? I’m 41 and in otherwise good health.

Weight Watchers helped me lose a few pounds but then I was stuck at a plateau. I’ve lost another 4 lbs. with the lower carbs. And my blood glucose is much more stable, so I’d like to try to make it work.

if these items are healthier to you in their natural state then why did society feel the need to strip them of their natural substances thus aiding in all sorts of health issues down the road….i.e diabetes
