My boyfriend (a type 2 diabetic), friends, and the campus nurse are convinced I may be diabetic, and so to humor them, I started watching what I ate and drank. I haven’t been formally tested, But I do have a dr. appt. next Friday to check. I’ve started drinking alot of diet coke, and I was wondering, other than the aspartame, is there anything I should be worried about? I know the aspartame is bad for you, but what exactly can it do? I have a very serious diet soda addiction.

It is to the point where I keep a 2 liter bottle on the night stand at night. I will seek out diet soda even when I’m not thirsty. My boyfriend knows that the way to win my affection is a bottle of diet coke on Valentines.

I grew up in an unhealthy diabetic household. All I drank growing up was diet coke, and I feel like I am now, at the age of twenty, hard-wired for drinking the stuff.

I don’t even enjoy the taste to be perfectly honest. I don’t understand why I continue to consume it in such great quantities.

I have tried countless times to quit, but every time I feel like I go through withdraws, to the point that I am shaking, with throbbing headaches, and every other thought revolves around getting a diet coke.

I dunno, I feel like something is wrong with me. How to can quit once and for all? Where do I get the willpower?

Okay I'm type 1 diabetic and keeping my sugar regulated is not the issue, I don't have a sweet tooth and I can avoid eating sugary/carb loaded foods.

 

My problem is what to drink.. I love soda but **** diet.. the only diet I can stomach is Coca cola Zero and even that gets old. I like unsweetened ice tea, so two drinks out of a million I like, (water is good too) but I need more variety can anyone suggest something other than diet coke,sprite,rootbeer dr.pepper, no diet sodas please
