Testing type 2 Diabetics for Gestational Diabetes?

Is testing Type 2 diabetics (who are pregnant) for gestational diabetes the same kind of testing as it would be for a normal woman who is pregnant?
I’ve had three kids already and was not diabetic when I was pregnant with them, before or after. And when they did the routine gestational diabetes testing they gave me a high concentration of sugar or better known as glucose.
I have recently been told from my OB physician that he will still need to perform this test to see if I have developed the gestational kind. I wasn’t thinking at the time, but today I was watching a video that reminded me of what they do for this testing and I am now concerned about having to drink this high sugary drink. Does anyone know if the procedure is different for someone like myself?
I found out I was diabetic this last January and the cause could be a result from my PCOS that I was recently diagnosed with as well. I take medication for the combination and monitor my diabetes four times a day. I also monitor my ketones.
I do also see an endocrinologist.

Question about Gestational Diabetes. *just found out I had it*?

* It’s A Boy! * asked:

Just curious if anyone knew what the odds were that I’m going to have a larger baby…

And my doctor said that now they need to keep an eye on how big the baby is getting, I know that if you are going through natural delivery that they will more than likely opt to deliver early… but I am already having a scheduled c-section due to severe back problems.. so will they deliver early for me as well???

Diabetes Question

I just found out that I have gestational diabetes and I’m furious. Is this reaction normal?

PandaJ asked:

I’m 30 wks and have been very conscious of everything I have eaten my whole pregnancy. I eat whole grains. I don’t eat desserts or drink soda. When I’m not nauseated by them, I eat veggies and lean meat. I looked at diabetes diets online and am already eating in line with them. No one in my family has diabetes.

I work for a fast paced job that brings in lunch daily. We don’t pick what, they just bring in a bunch of something. This is the only time when I’m not in control of my diet. Nov is our busiest month, most days I work 10 hrs without breaks so I know I don’t get enough water or exercise during the day. Now I’m feeling angry towards my employer. I’m also feeling very angry with my body and even the baby! I don’t want to tell people because they already joke about how careful I am with my diet. It always annoyed me- now it seriously pisses me off. Is this a natural first reaction? Will this feeling pass? Since I already eat very healthy, do you think I’ll have to take insulin?
