Diabetes Question

No diabetes in my family, my weight is a little above average, I have a sweet tooth, but I haven’t had any symptoms of diabetes?

Boris B asked:

I’m testing high for blood sugar so I began a regular exercise progam not so long ago.  I’m feeling good about the way things are going. Is there anyone in the know as to whether a high blood sugar level has persisted with no degregation of of life style and activity?

I’m not as fit as I used to be.  In fact, I let myself go a little after having had a strong focus on sports in my younger years.

If my activity level continues at the improved level will my glucose levels improve?  I’m also cutting down on my sugar intake.

Borderline diabetic ?

My husband was told years ago that he is borderline diabetic. He isn’t on meds; he just has to watch his diet and eat something sweet every day or two to keep his sugar levels up. (I’ve never seen his sugar get too high, it just gets too low sometimes.)
He has been having some other problems the past few months, and now the dr is saying it might be diabetes-related, and he has to go get it checked and probably start taking meds. Would that be type 1 or type 2? Will he have to go on insulin or pills, or adjust his diet? Just looking for opinions or info from someone in a similar situation. my husband is 6-3, and weighs @ 180 right now. He was up to 190 until he got sick a few weeks ago, and he lost 20-25 lbs in a matter of 5-6 days. (salmonella infection) Thats what threw everything into a spin… or at least what made him start paying attn to his body better. he still isnt having high sugar, and doesnt have low sugar very often, maybe once a month or so.
he is having some stomach/intestinal problems that the dr thinks is diabetes related. the other problems— loose stools for over a year, acid reflux… dr did upper GI scope, said his stomach was red, took biopsy… said food is staying in his stomach too long, put him on reglan. in addition to prilosec and levsin/sl he’s already on… GI specialist thinks all this is diabetes-related

Diabetes Question

Need a low sodium dog food for my dog who has epilepsy & diabetes?

momof2 asked:

He is on a gluten-free diet so the dog food cannot contain glycoproteins of dairy, wheat, gluten, casein, soy, corn, MSG (monosodium glutamate), or aspartame. I would like to keep using his current brand, Nutro Natural Choice Adult Lamb and Rice Dog Food but he’s so thirsty afterwards-all day. I can’t afford to keep giving him chicken and rice so I need a low-sodium alternative. I’ve called the local pet stores, they don’t have anything. And I’ve looked online. The w/d diet is way too much $. 50.00 for a 30lb bag. So I really need help on this one. Any suggestions would be helpful!
I have asked my vet and he recommended the chicken and rice or the W/D diet. He always has access to water, but w/ constant access to water, he also has to urinate quite often. If we’re not home, he pees anywhere. Oh and he just had cataract surgery 2 weeks ago.
Both the diabeties and epilepsy are well regulated w/ consistent dosages of medication.
